2AM Call

We are so happy to announce that our next single will be called ‘2AM Call’ and it will be out on 30th Oct.

The song will be the first song we have released to feature a co-write. For this song we have the immense pleasure of writing with fellow Northern Irish Artist and Songwriter Eilís. You can check out their music HERE.

The song is available to Pre-Save on Spotify now by clicking HERE

You can also buy a limited edition CD of the single direct from us. These will be limited to only 50 copies and will be hand signed by us. You can get a copy below

The song is written after a night out in a bar (The Parlour – mentioned in the song) where we observed a guy sitting at a bar talking to the bartender. He then went outside where he had an argument with a Girl. Minutes later He arrived back in to the same place and began talking again to the bar tender who began to console him.

We later found out that he had arrived with the Girl and they had just broken up. After witnessing this we thought that it would make a great narrative for a song. So after arriving back to Eilís’ apartment we wrote down the skeleton of the song. We constructed the narrative that the couple had broken up and in a distraught state the guy calls the Girl every night at 2am after drowning his sorrows asking for forgiveness. Wondering why She left him and dreaming of a way to get her back.

The song was finished after several writing sessions and a demo session where we fleshed out the arrangement.

Better Than This is an uplifting story which deals with the theme that no matter how hard things seem, they can always get better. It follows the two central characters. One, is a singer songwriter who is struggling hard playing in all the dive bars She can to make a go at being a successful musician. But no matter how hard they try they just can’t seem to make any progress. The second character a successful business Man who ends up loosing everything because they squandered all their money playing a game of keeping-up-with-the-Jones’. So they are forced to get a new job to rebuild everything. As the two characters continue on with their journeys they cross paths in the middle and realise that things will get better and they just have to keep working on their dreams.

This song recalls heavily on the duos love of storytelling and the musician character is semi-autobiographical, covering the struggles of being an independent musician in today’s world. Especially with the current climate where musicians main revenue stream is being pulled away from them due to the worldwide pandemic. But within that darkness we must have faith in our dreams and push through, knowing that things will indeed get better. A universal message for everyone.

Shadows On The Wall

We are pleased to announce that our brand new single “Shadows On The Wall” will be released on 8th May and it is available to pre-save now by clicking HERE:

However, we put together this trailer/short film to promote the single and help show you what the song is about. This is probably the darkest subject we have covered and as a result we have went with a darker and edgier sound to fit the subject matter. We really hope you enjoy this short film as we had lots of fun putting it together and it added another outlet for us being creative.

The song recounts the tale of a family secret, one that has been known about but been denied for years. The story recounts a tale of child abuse and how it is hidden within the family. The victim just remembers seeing the “Shadows On The Wall” that came to visit every night, haunting the victim like a demonic ghost. As the story moves on the character decides to go back and face the fear of going home and facing the demons of the past. But they find the courage to go back and they set about laying the past to rest with explosive measures.

Probably, the darkest lyrics and subject the duo have tackled. But we felt it was important to let listeners see the deeper and darker side to us and our writing. To fit in with the theme of the song we explored a harder musical feel. With heavier guitars and a beefier production. One of the joys of this monthly single campaign is we are free to explore different sounds and musical ideas. Something that has been very liberating for us as a duo. As we can let the song itself take the lead, taking us wherever it wants to go.

Proud to be DIY artists Chantelle and Chris recorded, produced and mixed the song themselves at their studio Renegade Studios. With Chantelle and Chris playing all the instruments on the track. Apart from the Drums, which were tracked by Session Drummer Chris Brush in Nashville, TN. The track was Mastered by Pete Maher (U2, Rolling Stones, The Killers, Snow Patrol and many more).

The artwork for the single is a specially commissioned illustration (by artist Becvardoodles). The illustration is a hard hitting image capturing the literal meaning of the lyrics and how the abuser torments its victim.

The single marks the third release for the band in 2020. The first of an ambitious monthly single release strategy. “Shadows On The Wall” will be released across all digital and streaming platforms on 8th May 2020, with pre-saves live now.
